Kobe Bryant's widow received $28.85 million in compensation

China News Agency, Los Angeles, March 1 (Reuters) Los Angeles County, California, reached a settlement agreement with the widow of American basketball superstar Kobe Bryant on February 28, ending the three-year lawsuit.
According to the Los Angeles Times and other American media, Los Angeles County agreed to pay a settlement of 28.85 million US dollars to Bryant's widow Vanessa Bryant on the same day. This settlement plan covers the compensation received by Vanessa according to the verdict of the jury last year, as well as all pending litigation and claims related to the Bryant crash.
Kobe played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1996 to 2016, winning five NBA championships and two Olympic championships in his career. On January 26, 2020, the helicopter of Kobe Bryant, then 41, and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, crashed in Calabasas, Los Angeles County, and nine people on board died.
Many Los Angeles County police officers and firefighters who arrived at the scene after the accident took and disseminated the photos of the crash scene including the remains of the victims. Vanessa and other family members of the victims filed a lawsuit and the jury decided to win the lawsuit in August 2022.
Vanessa's attorney said on the 28th that Vanessa was fighting not only for her husband and daughter, but also for all the families of the deceased who had been treated with similar disrespect. He hoped that this legal victory would end such events.
