NASA Discovers Two Super-Earths

NASA discovers two "super-Earths"! Scientists are very excited, and it is very close to the state and environment of the earth.

NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) officially announced that two more "super-Earths" have recently been discovered, that is, exoplanets that are very close to the state and environment of the earth, and are not far away, only 33 light-years away, which are the ones discovered so far. One of the closest multi-planetary systems to Earth.

They all orbit a red dwarf star, named HD260655, about one-tenth the size and brightness of the Sun.

Among them, HD260655b is 20% larger than the earth, its mass is approximately equal to two earths, and its revolution period is only 2.8 days;

HD260655c is 50% larger than Earth, with a mass equivalent to three Earths, and an orbital period of 5.7 days.

Judging from the size, mass, density and other data, the two planets are likely to be rocky planets, but it has not been fully confirmed.

They are too close to the host star (so their orbital periods are very short), and their surface temperatures are as high as about 440°C and 290°C, respectively, making it impossible for liquid water to exist.

Still, scientists are very excited about these two exoplanets, giving us a chance to learn more about Earth-like worlds outside our solar system, and they are among the top 10 in atmospheric signatures of all Earth-like exoplanets discovered so far. .

Currently, more than 5,000 exoplanets have been discovered in the Milky Way.
