Pressure Vessel Design Pressure

The highest pressure at the top of the container set by GB150 is used as the design load condition together with the corresponding design temperature, and its value is not lower than the working pressure. When determining the design pressure of a container, the following factors should be considered:

(1) When the overpressure relief device is installed on the container, especially when using the rupture disc as the overpressure relief device, the design pressure should be determined according to the provisions of Appendix B of GB150. See Chapter 14 of the Engineer Training Materials except GB150. .

Appendix B4.1 of GB150 states:

When the container is equipped with a bleed device, the design pressure of the container is generally used as the initial pressure of the container overpressure limit. The design pressure of the container is determined by B6.2 or B7.1, respectively. The maximum allowable working pressure of the available container is used as the starting pressure for the container overpressure limit, if desired. When the maximum allowable working pressure is used, the maximum allowable working pressure values of 1.25 times, 1.15 times and 1.00 times shall be taken for the water pressure test, air pressure test and air tightness test of the container, and shall be indicated on the drawings and nameplate.

(2) When determining the thickness of the casing of the vacuum vessel, the design pressure is considered to withstand the external pressure.

1 When a safety control device (such as a vacuum relief valve) is installed, the design pressure is 1.25 times the maximum internal/external pressure difference or a low value of 0.1 MPa;

2 When there is no safety control device, take 0.1MPa.

(3) For containers consisting of two or more pressure chambers, the design pressure of each pressure chamber should be determined according to the respective working pressure.
